Todd Dennis and Kristen Martha Brown opened this low-key Montavilla bar in 2014 after they met chef Vallery Markel, and it became a staple of Portland's pizza scene.
More than a decade later, neighbors still come for the genuinely welcoming table service as much as the Detroit-style pizza.

The Classic sourdough ferments for 48 hours,
the Detroit was one of Portland's first, and the Tavern takes 6 days to earn its crunch.
Sunday brings 15 layers of hand-rolled lasagna, and vegan and gluten-free options get the same care.
Cocktails are made with the same care and attention-to-detail as the pizza. The draft list is curated from local breweries with something for everyone.
